I've never heard of BIN before. How's it used?

Ah.. I'll use an example I can just come up with:
Someone is offering a run to LA from Ascalon on the forums, but of course it's limited to 3 other people. So one guy will post "Bin" Another time I see it is in bidding: C/O (Current Offer): 100k Bin: 200k |

Terms regarding weaponry: 40/20/20, and what are head gear swaps?
I've gone through the entire thread, I understand the 40/40 and 20/20 now (ty to those that posted that info.)
Here's where I'm getting lost: what is 40/20/20 ? Does this refer to a staff, main&offhand and why the extra "20" ? -RL Last edited by lovedeluxe.RL; Feb 05, 2010 at 10:35 AM // 10:35.. Reason: incorrectness of particular paragraphs/new additional question |

BIN : in terms of trade channel / or bidding
Quote:
If current offer is 100k, a seller is selling item(s) and more likely than not taking offers on that item or items hoping for a better price. He may randomly call out where the current offer currently stands, which can generate more enthusiasm for interested buyers wanting to purchase. (B)uy (I)t (N)ow is the price for which a buyer may purchase the item(s) the seller has for sale immediately- 200k bumping any other previous offers, and closing the deal immediately. In regard to the run from LA to Ascalon: BIN may mean the same thing as above? Easier to set a fixed price and therefore allowing for more frequent runs as opposed to waiting for the highest bidder(s) ? Just a thought, as I don't know on the running example. I would imagine if I were a runner, I think I would set a fixed price for each participant in a forum thread and wait for replies/ so it's a bit logically contradictory. If it were in the auction forum, I do not know if you can set a "fixed" price -RL Last edited by lovedeluxe.RL; Jan 13, 2010 at 03:30 PM // 15:30.. Reason: additoinal information |

I couldn't find PvX.
I understand PvE and PvP - but PvX has me confused. |

I was about to send a user a link to this thread for help with "IGN" and noticed it's not here.
Please add IGN = In-Game Name (the name of one of your Guild Wars characters; often used for sending whispers in game) Not usually associated with the similarly named website in the context of Guild Wars discussions. Thanks! |

T1's response referring to PvX wiki is correct BUT the term PvX actually means "player versus everything," i.e. something that is common to PvE and PvP, such as a role playing character that also does PvP. That's how PvX wiki got its name - it provides builds for both role players and the unwashed masses.

I thought of a couple more that might be worth adding
GotT - Gift of the Traveler ^ that one took me a while to figure out at first. r, q, req - common abbreviations for requirement when describing weapons ("wtb r9 sword" for example) ^ I realize there are people who get very emotional over which one is used. Given the frequency each is seen in game and in trade listings, it seems foolish to leave any of them off this list ... where someone who does not understand might reasonably go to look it up. |
